United College Marketing Services is a company that promotes credit cards to college students. Instead of the typical sales approach, UCMS avoids solicitory methods. We try to offer students more value. An example of this is Credit Strategies Seminars. Just about anyone can set up a booth to sell cards on campus, so UCMS offers this alternative.

We started offering Credit Strategies Seminars to combat the people that screamed "Get good credit!" but did nothing to explain what good credit really is. We have developed Credit Strategies Seminars to be of use to you, the college student. In one section we actually show a scorecard that shows how a loan officer evaluates applicants. We also give you an address that allows for you to get transaction recorders FREE!

A Message From Our President, Dennis Meunier

It is a very exciting time for United College Marketing Services. Since 1989, we have positively affected the credit card marketing industry by developing innovative sales methodologies that credit educate people in the process.

We have been richly rewarded as we are one of the most profitable companies in our field. In addition to measuring up well financially we have also made quantifiable improvements in the lives of the college students we sell to, the campus administrators we work for and the card issuers that rely on us for growth.

I personally want to thank all those that have partnered with us in this journey. Representative Joe Kennedy from Massachusetts and Representative Carolyn Maloney from New York for making the nation more aware of credit card marketing issues. Key people in the press such as Robert Heady from Bank Rate Monitor, David Robertson from Nilson Report and Kris Hunter from Credit Card News have been very gracious in tracking our progress.

Mission Statement

We market credit cards in a manner that adds value for the college student consumer. Our current programs springboard us ahead of typical sales promotions. Unlike "purely solicitory" sales approaches, we interweave credit education into the sales process. This profoundly simple concept has bolted us to credit industry prominence and recognition.

General Media Research Material

It is our goal is to offer credit education to everyone. Even though we have reached 7,000,000 four-year college students, there are those we believe who have not heard our message yet can benefit.

Because it is logistically impossible to do live seminars to everyone, we partner with general media people. This allows us to communicate the "good credit" message to three critical youth segments we otherwise would not reach: small four-year schools, two-year schools and technical colleges and high school students.

Please visit our "Digital Press Kit" and contact our media relations staff. We are trained in helping you get research data, sources to quote and trends in college marketing.

Special Section for Parents of College Students

As parents of college students it is important that you are aware of three areas. 1) Credit cards are easily acquired by students today (even freshman), 2) building credit is critical for students financial success, and 3) you can start them off on the right foot by understanding Credit Strategies Seminars.

The college environment is very different from even a few years ago. Getting and using a credit card is a very integral part of financial health. From our vantage point, we see that parents are the single largest influencer of positive credit health. When students get on a bad credit track they suffer discriminating employers, higher cost loans and rejections from insurance companies.

We want to be a resource for you to arm your college student with all the tools necessary to avoid headaches associated with bad credit. If you have any questions contact our president, Dennis Meunier at dmeunier@ucms.com. He will personally make sure you have 100% of UCMS' support.

Special Section for College Administrators

College administrators can positively affect our mission to provide credit education. You control marketers access to your campus. By making it more stringent for table promotions to give away trinkets and sign up your students, the number of people that get into credit difficulties will decrease.

An alternative could be to require that a credit class be offered for tabling applicants to attend. This would minimize the number of students who sign up, use and abuse credit cards. Many campuses such as University of Minnesota, Northwestern University and University of California have outright banned table top promotions that lure students in with premiums.

Our company can also be contacted if you need a speaker for a campus event (freshman welcome message, credit class, new student orientation, etc.). We do this FREE of charge and what's more you have full "jurisdiction". You dictate what we present, how we present it and for how long we talk.

Your "buy in" or support of Credit Strategies Seminars is critical. By helping us, you can help us get the word out about good credit.

Special Section for Campus Group Leaders

We provide speakers to campus groups. There are special presentations that we give to Greek letter societies, resume related activities, philanthropic groups, etc. The presentation is similar to the Credit Strategies Seminars presentation available at this site. By inviting us to speak to you live, your group has to opportunity to interact with the presenter and get a better feel for our material.

To contact us, send an e-mail to questions@ucms.com. We have excellent referrals and have probably presented to your fraternity, sorority or campus group on some other campus. What do you have to pay? ZERO. Issuers already sponsor us. You have 100% control over what is said and how it is presented

Career Opportunities

Opportunities abound at UCMS. If you believe in our company and agree with our purpose, then we encourage you to investigate further.

The most recruited position at our firm is the entry level one. All of our staffers start out at this level. It is the campus manager position. It is very competitive. We only have one per campus. A typical profile of a campus manager is someone who is a leader on campus and who believes in helping fellow students understand the ins and outs of good credit.
